Dueling
Acaen noblemen carry Honorknives, curved blades that are symbols of their will to defend their personal and family honor. These are used in rather unique duels. Each contender is equipped with their own blade, and outfitted with armor that protects their head and chest, but not their back. The objective is to outmaneuver the enemy and stab him in the back. This leads to a focus on superior cunning, and agility, rather than brute strength. Thus to “Stab someone in the back” means to honorably defeat someone, while the expression for betrayal is to “Poison the wine.”
